چکیده

Nerol, a monoterpene is evident to possess diverse biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-microbial, anti-spasmodic, anthelmintic, and anti-arrhythmias. This study aims evaluate its hepatoprotective effect against paracetamol-induced liver toxicity in rat model. Five groups of rats (n = 7) were orally treated (once daily) with 0.05% tween 80 dissolved 0.9% NaCl solution (vehicle), paracetamol 640 mg/kg (negative control), 50 silymarin (positive or nerol (50 100 mg/kg) for 14 days, followed by the hepatotoxicity induction using (PCM). The blood samples livers animals collected subjected biochemical microscopical analysis. histological findings suggest that caused lymphocyte infiltration marked necrosis, whereas maintenance normal hepatic structural was observed group pre-treated nerol. significantly dose-dependently reduced hepatotoxic markers animals. Nerol at reversed altered situations, enzymes, plasma proteins, antioxidant enzymes serum bilirubin, lipid peroxidation (LPO) cholesterol [e.g., total (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-c), low-density (LDL-c)] levels Taken together, exerted significant activity dose-dependent manner. PCM-induced induced effects based on expression inflammatory apoptosis factors will be future line work establishing precise mechanism action Wistar albino rats.
